Welcome to the Department of Economics at Ambo University — where knowledge meets transformation! Established in 2010, the department is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and community service. It offers undergraduate (regular and extension) programs and postgraduate programs in MSc Development Economics and MA Development Studies on both regular and extension bases at the main and satellite campuses in Addis Ababa and Shaggar. With research focusing on agriculture, poverty, environment, industry, finance, and macroeconomics, the department continues to shape capable economists committed to Ethiopia’s sustainable and inclusive development.
