About Accounting and Finance Program
- Program
The Department of Accounting and Finance currently offers distinct programs at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At the undergraduate level, the Department runs a BA in Accounting and Finance under two modes: the Regular program and the Continuing Education Program (CEP). For postgraduate studies, the Department offers two programs: an MSc in Accounting and Finance and an MBA in Finance. Both postgraduate programs are available through the Regular and CEP streams.

The vision for the Accounting and Finance Program is to be recognized as the program of choice in Eastern Africa by 2030 for its excellence in education quality, research, and community engagement.
- Mission
The Accounting and Finance program at Ambo University, offered through the College of Business and Economics, provides quality, cost-effective, and timely education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The program’s core design focuses on equipping students with practical knowledge and analytical skills across essential areas such as financial accounting, managerial accounting, taxation, auditing, finance, and accounting information systems. Furthermore, it strengthens this foundation by integrating supporting disciplines like law, IT, economics, and quantitative methods. With a strong emphasis on relevance and real-world application, the program’s ultimate goal is to develop graduates who possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and professional attitude to meet modern challenges and lead in the financial world within the business, government, and nonprofit sectors. It also actively seeks to stimulate and support productive, high-quality research, community engagement and publications.
