Welcome To Industrial Engineering Department
At Ambo University’s Institute of Technology, the Industrial Engineering Department—housed under the School of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at the Hachalu Hundessa Campus—strives to foster innovation, efficiency, and sustainable industrial development. The department offers both undergraduate and graduate programs (including an MSc in Industrial Engineering) that combine rigorous engineering foundations with practical training in areas such as operations research, production planning and control, quality management, supply chain & logistics, facility layout, maintenance engineering, and industrial safety. Its curriculum is designed to equip students with problem-solving, analytical, and optimization skills to respond to the demands of Ethiopia’s growing manufacturing and service sectors. Moreover, through research, consultancy, “real-world” projects and community engagement, the department contributes to the technological capacity and competitiveness of industries both locally and nationally.
