About College of Natural Science

College of Natural and Computational Sciences is one of the colleges in the university which runs six departments and three program units. College of Natural and Computational Sciences was founded in March 2008, following the promotion of Ambo College to Ambo University. It was established as College of Natural Sciences comprising three departments, Biology, Chemistry, and Computer Sciences all offering B.Sc. degree programs. Later in 2010, the college was renamed as College of Natural and Computational Sciences, and through time it was reorganized into six teaching Departments. These were the Departments of: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Sport Sciences. Currently, the College is more than 15 years old and comprises nine programs in six departments, offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. In an attempt to solve the nation’s human power shortage in the field of laboratory technologies, three program units were launched quite recently. These are Biology Laboratory Technology, Chemistry Laboratory Technology, and Physics Laboratory Technology all offering B.Sc. degrees.

With respect to Administrative structure, the College of Natural and Computational Sciences has a Dean and two Vice deans (vice dean for academic affairs, vice dean for research and community service affairs), two coordinators (coordinator of the postgraduate studies, and the registrar), one team leader (educational quality assurance and audit).
