Vision
To be the Center of Excellence in Disaster Risk Management and Sustainable Development research, community service, and training in West Shewa, Ethiopia, and Africa by 2050.
Mission
Generate quality DRM and sustainable development data, evidence and services through research, training and community services by enhancing the capacity of Busa Gonofa Oromia, Addis Ababa City and EDRMC staff and its stakeholders in collaborative DRM research, community services and training interventions. The department also serves as a center of knowledge and information exchange and a networking point for Busa Gonofa, Oromia, EDRMC, and other DRM stakeholders.
Scope
The scope includes the identification of causative agents for disasters and the application of disaster risk reduction policies and strategies to prevent new disaster risks, reduce existing disaster risks and contribute to strengthening resilience and reducing disaster losses in West Shewa in particular, Oromia, and Ethiopia in general.
