Conference on Integration of Science, Technology and Industrial Innovation.

Ambo University, in collaboration with the Alliance of National and International Science Organizations (ANSO), convened a high-level international conference under the theme “Integration of Science, Technology and Industrial Innovation”. The Ambo University based ANSO Africa Hub of Science and Innovation (AAHSI) was also inaugurated. The AAHSI serves as a continental hub for Africa and expected to open up a new era of academic cooperation, technology transfer, and socio-economic transformation across the continent. The event drew delegates from the Ethiopian Ministry of Education, the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Mission of China to the African Union, the Sino-Africa Joint Research Center (SAJOREC), UNESCO, African Academy of Science, ANSO member institutions, universities and research institutions from multiple countries, and scholars from Ambo University. In his opening address, Dr. Bayisa Leta, President of Ambo University, underscored the need for global collaboration in addressing pressing challenges. He further expressed Ambo University’s commitment to make the Hub properly serve the purpose it is meant for. Mr. Kora Tushune, State Minister of the FDRE Ministry of Education, congratulated Ambo University for hosting the hub and praised its potential to strengthen scholarships, research collaboration, staff mobility, and innovation-led growth. He reaffirmed the government’s support for the partnership and success of the AAHSI. ANSO general Director Prof. Weidong Liu has also affirmed the commitment of ANSO to support the Hub so that it could serve its mission. He also called upon international organizations and collaborators to support the hub.
