Continuing and Distance Education

Ambo University has been making continuing education accessible to interested learners not able to attend regular programs related to job, distance and economic barriers both at undergraduate and graduate levels in various fields at fair prices over years. The University employs weekend, evening, summer, distance, winter as well as special training schemes in breaking the time and location barriers to education. Moreover, it runs need based short term training programs so as to enhance the capacity of trainees.

Further, Ambo University has been giving scholarships to its staffs and the needy local community members with a special focus on individuals with disabilities and females on yearly basis to break economic barrier within the limits of its capacity. The University also employs the program to generate income and partly cover its expenses.

Indeed, Ambo University is able to produce well qualified man power both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels currently supporting the country’s development programs in various sectors through its continuing and distance education program.

Currently, the university is handling 10,373 undergraduate, 1216 postgraduate and a total of about 11,589 students at its existing 4 campuses and established 6 centers. In view of this, Ambo University is certainly playing a significant role in capacity building providing flexible opportunities and generating income through continuing education. Indeed, the university is working to further strengthen and expand existing relevant programs, establish more centers at potential sites and introduce need based programs based on careful studies.
