Ambo University’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Center certified twenty-five female high school students in web development upon their successful completion of the 2025 Summer STEM Program organized by the university.
Over the course of two consecutive months, the students engaged in intensive, hands-on training in full-stack web development. The curriculum introduced them to:
• Web basics and key technical concepts
• Client-side technologies: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Bootstrap framework for responsive design
• Server-side programming with PHP
• Database management with MySQL
As part of their practical learning, the students developed four community-focused websites addressing the practical needs of different institutions. The students showcased the projects and demonstrated their creativity, technical knowledge, organizational skill and commitment to community service.
The summer program emphasized confidence building, problem-solving, teamwork, and inclusivity, in addition to coding. On the certification ceremony, the students were encouraged to explore the wide range of opportunities in the digital sector and to envision a future in technology-driven fields.
The initiative highlights Ambo University STEM Center’s dedication to advancing female participation in technology, bridging the gender gap, and preparing the next generation of innovators.
