Publication and Dissemination Directorate

Publication and dissemination activities are one of those activities that ensure the knowledge and evidence generated through research is available to scientific communities, policy makers and development agencies for the design of evidence-based policy and programs. To this end, Ambo University is committed to recognizing innovation, intellectual property ownership and technology foresight in publication. Accordingly, it encourages its staff and graduate students to engage in meaningful research, publish their findings in local, regional and international journals, and present their research findings in international workshops and conferences. Publication of research findings in reputable journals is a major condition for the promotion of the academic staff.

 

To this end, the University extends unreserved support to its staff to publish their works on both national and international journals whose reputation has been proven through indexing in major indexing/abstracting databases indicated on Ambo University Legislation. Currently, Ambo University publishes peer-reviewed articles on its nationally accredited journal named “Journal of Science and Sustainable Development (JSSD)”. Journal of Science and Sustainable Development (JSSD) is an open access, peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal published by Ambo University, Ethiopia, that provides rapid publication (bi-annually) of articles in all subject areas covering, but not limited to, Natural Sciences, Agriculture, Technology and Social Sciences. The office of publication and dissemination directorate of Ambo University is committed to maintain the quality of the journal it is published in collaboration with journal editors.

 

It is important to mention that, Ambo University runs numerous workshops, conferences, panel discussions, stakeholders’ meetings and demonstrations every year with pertinent bodies, so that the knowledge generated in the University reaches end users. The research outputs (knowledge, publications and technologies) from the workshops, conferences, panel discussions, stakeholders’ meetings and demonstrations will be documented and disseminated to end users through appropriate means such as publications, media, webpage, conference, exhibitions, open days, training, etc. The Office of publication and dissemination directorate of Ambo University is therefore responsible in publishing and disseminating conference proceedings and other publications such as booklets, leaflets, flyers, etc.
